Position Summary

**GENERAL SUMMARY:** Under supervision, landscape or maintain grounds of parks using hand or power tools or equipment performing a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler repair; maintenance, repair and upkeep of park facilities and areas maintained by the Park Division; and perform related work as required.

The ideal candidate possesses the ability to work effectively as a member of a team; desires to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork; and is able to follow a management style that is input oriented and values problem solving and the development of partnerships.

Job Duties

+ Dispose of trash or waste materials.

+ Operate grounds maintenance equipment; and manual and power tools.

+ Drive trucks or other vehicles to or at work sites.

+ Irrigate lawns, trees, or plants; and flower beds.

+ Trim vegetation.

+ Maintain equipment, vehicles or systems to ensure proper functioning.

+ Cultivate lawns, turf, or gardens.

+ Maintain sports field surfaces.

+ Clean facilities or sites including buildings, restrooms and park pavilions.

+ Remove debris from work sites.

+ Keep time card and other records.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.

+ 18 years of age.

+ Possession of, or ability to obtain, a driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Experience in public grounds or facilities maintenance.

**WORKING CONDITIONS:** Duties require use of physical strength and working outside in inclement weather
