Job Title: Equipment EngineerJob Description
The Equipment Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of new testing machines, while also modeling and rebuilding existing assembly machines in a Battery R&D facility. This position requires the creation of 3D models of machine parts, development of technical documentation, design of testing fixtures, and oversight of the installation and maintenance of testing equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Create 3D models of existing assembly machine parts using Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
+ Support the installation of a new testing machine from the ground up, ensuring it meets all technical specifications and requirements.
+ Develop comprehensive technical documentation for both new and existing testing machines, including tooling change procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintenance procedures.
+ Design and fabricate testing fixtures for both new and existing machines to ensure accurate and reliable testing results.
+ Build the new custom testing machine from the ground up and install it into the R&D facility.
+ Run production trials with an operator and test the machine to ensure it is running to specification, and debug issues.
+ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of testing machines into the R&D process.
+ Identify opportunities for improving testing processes and equipment, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Work variable hours during their day shift between 20-40 hours per week depending on project requirements. This project will likely run 3-6 months in duration.
Essential Skills
+ Mechanical design and 3D modeling
+ Machine or machine component design experience
+ Experience building industrial machinery
+ 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
+ Associates degree in mechanical engineering minimum education
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
+ Knowledge of a light manufacturing or pilot line manufacturing process
+ Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to testing equipment
+ Experience with project management and coordination
Work Environment
The role is based in an office and R&D pilot line setting, supporting a well-known battery R&D center with a project that offers a variety of hands-on and design work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $52.00/hr.
