Summary Will evaluate and provide rehabilitation services for disabled patients as requested by the physicians. The types of disabilities include those as a result of stroke, head injury, arthritis, cardiac conditions, polio, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, muscle or bone disorders including strains, post fractures, bursitis & scoliosis & both acute & chronic pain patients. Will also see patients with non-disabling conditions such as prenatal and postpartum patients as requested by their physician. Responsibilities Receives and reviews referrals of patients needing physical therapy treatments from physicians, and initiates appropriate physical therapy program involving patient and family in developing goals and objectives. Provides physical therapy treatment and rehabilitation programs including periodic evaluations of the program to determine the patients status and the effectiveness of the treatment regimen. The position directly supervises four Physical/Occupational Therapists and one Administrative Support Assistant. The incumbent plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepares schedules for completion of work. Responsible for several administrative requirements of the department. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. Education A graduate or higher level degree that included: A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; and Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). Note: Applicants who have completed an approved graduate level curriculum and who subsequently completed additional graduate training in a specialized field of clinical practice designed to assure professional competence to practice in the specialty meet the requirements for GS-11. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Identifying, distributing and balancing the workloads and tasks among employees by planning and carrying out a full range of treatment or prevention of physical disabilities or disease in order that patients will derive the maximum benefits from therapeutic activities. Providing a wide variety of physical therapy services for patients having a wide range of complex pathologies. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
