    Description

    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester, NY is seeking a Cytopathologist. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the position will have an academic component, which may include translational or clinical research. Leadership opportunities could be available for interested experienced candidates. The anticipated rank is open, commensurate with experience.

     

    The Cytopathology Division at the University of Rochester annually evaluates 55,000 GYN Pap tests, 13,000 Non-GYN specimens including a diverse mix of body cavity fluids and fine needle aspirations, and many interesting consult cases. There is a robust fine needle aspiration service throughout the hospital, composed of approximately 2,500 fine needle aspiration procedures. Immediate on-site evaluations are rendered for a range of procedures, including endobronchial ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations (EBUS), endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations, CT-guided fine needle aspirations, ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations, and fine needle aspirations of palpable lesions. In addition, we have various special interactive programs for cytopathologists including real time intraoperative evaluations with thoracic surgeons and ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations performed by cytopathologists.

     

    The University of Rochester Medical Center is a highly collegial environment with many opportunities for collaboration particularly with investigators in the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. This is a very active oncologic service with expertise in many types of solid tumors. The successful candidate will actively participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of solid tumors. The Wilmot Cancer Center Institute also has a strong research program that promotes collaboration in basic, translational and clinical programs for investigators.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must have completed medical school having an MD, MD-PhD, or equivalent as well as have completed cytopathology fellowship training, and be board certified/eligible for NYS license. Candidates would join the faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with the candidate's experience.

    The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
