GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assists operational management in maintaining a high quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the conditions of the assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the environmental services personnel to be sure all schedules are completed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ The Leader is responsible for adhering to all patient care services standards.

+ Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, environmental and infection control standards.

+ Performs all housekeeping related tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, patients, visitors and hospital staff.

The responsibilities of a Leader may vary. The Leader:

+ Performs the duties of an Environmental Services Associate I or Environmental Services Associate II as outlined in the job description.

+ Accepts responsibility for a limited area, shift or task as assigned.

+ Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done properly and that personnel are following duty lists and schedules.

+ Reports any pertinent information to the Supervisor as it occurs.

+ Instills a serviced-minded approach to all tasks performed by environmental services staff by demonstrating personal enthusiasm and team spirit.

+ Motivates staff by communicating areas done well and areas needing improvements.

+ Retrains environmental services personnel as directed by the environmental services management.

+ Recommends and observed staff coverage at all times by checking sign-in sheet and using personnel efficiently.

+ Inspects equipment daily to maintain it in clean condition and in good repair.

+ Maintains good public relations with all patients, facility and staff personnel.

+ Assumes responsibility for work area in absence of the supervisor or manager.

+ Assumes responsibility for the quality standard in his/her area.

+ Enhances job-related growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.

+ Assists supervisor with creating staff work schedules.

+ Maintains the schedules and timekeeping in Kronos.

+ Communicates patient concerns, discomfort to appropriate nursing staff if/when communicated by patient or visitors.

+ Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

+ High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.

+ Minimum of 1 - 3 years prior experience as an Environmental Services Associate II preferred.
