    Overview

     

    The individual will lead and provide support in the day-to-day activities for all departments within the facility that manufacture and test Navy components. The incumbent in this role will partner with the Engineering community to solve problems, improve quality, manage product and process data collection and summary, identify corrective actions, internal auditing, and key Navy customer activities related to SVRLA product. This role requires a thorough working knowledge of Navy products and requirements.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing Navy products with plans and procedures.

    + Oversee quality team coverage on the production floor and lab testing of Navy products per Control Plan and procedures.

    + Coordinate, participate in, and submit all Navy data packages for product acceptance prior to shipments.

    + Coordinate and participate in all Navy document reviews, including PFMEA’s, Control Plans, and local SOP/WI’s.

    + Manage external product audits with DCMA and Navy.

    + Ensure compliance with quality control inspections and sampling techniques to meet company and Navy quality standards.

    + Adhere to incoming material requirements for Navy per Control Plan.

    + Responsible for inventory management of GFE for use in completing SVRLA shipments.

    + Coordinate short-term and long-term capabilities studies with the plant process engineering team to understand and improve plant capabilities.

    + Conduct research on product defects (in plant & customer returns), performance tests, plant reject and scrap rate, complete root cause analysis, and recommend process or product changes to overcome quality issues.

    + Submit requests for Waivers and Deviations to Navy in the event of non-conformances.

    + Work on problem-solving initiatives linked to Control Plans, PFMEA’s, plant inspection points, and customer returns.

    + Perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.

    + Provide technical guidance and direction for all Navy projects and concerns.

    + Coordinate all Navy returns from receipt to product analysis.

    + Coach, mentor and develop employees for future opportunities and ensure accountability and adherence to both Navy and company policies and procedures.

    Relationships:

    Maintain positive relationships with corporate, employees, and Navy to resolve quality issues.

    Qualifications

    Education, Experience, Certifications

     

    + Minimum 4-year technical degree in science, engineering, or quality (preferably engineering).

    + 5-8 years of related experience as a quality assurance engineer or equivalent at a corporate and/or manufacturing plant level, preferably a tier I supplier to the automotive industry.

    + CQE preferred.

    + Six Sigma training (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.

     

    Competencies, Skills, Knoweldge

     

    + Demonstrate leadership skills.

    + Proficient in problem-solving – root cause analysis, 5 why, etc.

    + Must be quality and customer-oriented.

    + Must have strong problem-solving skills.

    + Knowledgeable in Navy specifications, quality standards, APQP methodology, Control Plans, FMEAs, PPAPs, Six-Sigma, Lean tools, and Quality Operating Systems.

    + Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment on multiple projects.

    + Strong skills in statistical methods.

    + Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Strong computer skills - Windows-based programs.

     

    Environment & Physical Requirements

     

    + This position requires you to be on site at our Ft Smith, AR location.

    + Sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting as necessary.

    + Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, and metatarsal guard shoes, etc., as outlined in established policy.

    + Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

     

    Travel

     

    + Occasional travel, up to 15%, may be necessary to fulfill business needs and support various projects and initiatives.
