Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. Position summary Under the direct supervision of a physician, performs echocardiography procedures according to HHC’s philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures.Assures the effective daily operation of the department. Leads the assigned cardiology practices in such tasks as quality and safety, education, maintenance and accreditation. _*Responsibilities*_ * Leads effective daily operation of the Echocardiology Department ensuring that patient exams and physician requests are met in a timely and efficient manner. * Participates in the activities required to maintain departmental ICAEL certification assuming the role of Technical Director and the formulation of continuous quality and performance improvement plans, updated department procedures, physician and staff information, and competencies. * Troubleshoots equipment problems as necessary, reporting unresolved issues to appropriate staff. * Maintains adequate Echo department inventory including office and exam supplies, linen. * Keeps abreast of industry changes and shares findings with appropriate staff. * Performs echocardiography examinations according to departmental procedures including transthoracic, transesophageal, and pharmacological/exercise stress studies as required for age-specific populations. * Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when abnormalities are observed and when issues with patients arise. * Provides preliminary findings to the Cardiologist to aid in the interpretation of the study. * Maintains records of all procedures performed and provides adequate documentation to the interpreting cardiologist. * Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. * Demonstrates knowledge of care for required age-specific populations necessary to carry out safe and effective performance of duties. * Performs all duties as assigned or required. *Qualifications:* * Graduate of an accredited Echocardiography program required * 3-5 years experience in Echocardiography required * Previous lead/supervisory experience preferred We take great care of careers.
