Job Description
The Technical Laboratory Coordinator, under general direction, coordinates and oversees the daily operational activities of a laboratory. Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices.
Responsibilities
75 %: Operations
+ Coordinates and oversees the daily operational activities of a laboratory.
+ Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices.
+ Oversees the maintenance of laboratory facilities, equipment and instrumentation and arranges for repairs.
+ Evaluates existing laboratory facilities and recommends improvements.
+ Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for laboratory.
+ Develops procedures for the use of laboratory instrumentation.
+ Ensures proper storage, handling and disposal of laboratory waste.
+ Creates, Organizes and/or maintains laboratory inventories for -80C, -20C freezers
+ Performs technical aspects of research in diverse projects as needed.
20%: Administration
+ Oversees procurement of laboratory equipment and supplies, chemical storage, safety labeling and inventory control.
+ Maintains inventory supplies and records. Assists in the development and update of instructional materials for training students or staff in the laboratory
5 %: Supervision
+ Supervises laboratory staff and students in the handling and preparation of laboratory materials.
+ May supervise assigned staff/ student workers.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
+ Three years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
+ Ability to ensure attention to detail.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
