    Join Amazon Ads' Demographic Targeting team as a Software Development Manager and shape the future of how advertisers connect with audiences worldwide! Our team enables advertisers to effectively reach their target demographics across Amazon's global advertising ecosystem, supporting 350+ demographic audiences across 17 international marketplaces.

     

    In Demographic Targeting, our mission is to enable advertisers with demographic intelligence across the entire campaign lifecycle; from planning and activation to measurement. Our services connect demographic data for supply and demand by decorating bid requests with demographic attributes and making them available to downstream services like planning, targeting and reporting.

     

    We're looking for a passionate engineering leader to drive innovation in our machine learning-powered demographic prediction systems. You'll lead a talented team developing solutions that combine first-party Amazon insights with advanced modeling techniques to provide industry-leading demographic targeting capabilities. Your team's work will directly impact advertising effectiveness on platforms like Prime Video, helping global brands deliver more relevant ads to their intended audiences.

    Key job responsibilities

     

    Technical Leadership

     

    - Guide architectural decisions and technical direction for scalable software systems

     

    - Establish quality standards and metrics for service health and customer impact

     

    - Review and provide feedback on technical designs and implementation approaches

     

    - Drive operational excellence and system reliability

     

    People Management

     

    - Build and develop high-performing engineering teams through hiring, coaching, and career development

     

    - Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations

     

    - Create an inclusive environment that encourages innovation and collaboration

     

    - Foster a culture aligned with Amazon's Leadership Principles

     

    Strategic Execution

     

    - Own technical roadmap and strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals

     

    - Drive project delivery through clear prioritization and risk management

     

    - Make data-driven decisions balancing tactical needs against strategic goals

     

    - Partner effectively with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders

     

    Business Impact

     

    - Translate business requirements into technical solutions that scale

     

    - Identify and execute opportunities for innovation and process improvement

     

    - Own end-to-end delivery of customer-facing features and services

     

    - Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and operational metrics

    Basic Qualifications

    - 3+ years of engineering team management experience

     

    - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

     

    - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

     

    - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

     

    - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

     

    - Experience partnering with product or program management teams

     

    - Experience designing, building, and operating machine learning and AI-based services

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

     

    - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
