    The Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is committed to developing skilled, ethical, and professional law enforcement personnel who are dedicated to serving and protecting the people of Idaho. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-orientedCurriculum Coordinator/Training Specialistto join our team and contribute to the development and continual improvement of high-quality law enforcement training programs across the state.

     

    The Curriculum Coordinator plays a vital role in shaping the education and training provided to Idaho’s peace officers. This position is responsible for designing, reviewing, and maintaining POST curriculum standards in alignment with state regulations, current best practices, and evolving law enforcement training needs. Work will be performed in a team environment, requiring coordination with Curriculum team members, Training Coordinators, and Law Enforcement Subject Matter Experts.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

    + Identify education standards and learning objectives to guide the development of effective and engaging curricula.

    + Collaborate with instructors, subject matter experts, and law enforcement partners to create, revise, and enhance course materials.

    + Edit and proofread curriculum documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across training programs.

    + Evaluate and update training curricula to reflect changes in law enforcement practices, state standards (IDAPA), and Job Task Analysis (JTA) findings.

    + Maintain and distribute current POST curriculum standards, lesson plans, and instructional materials.

    + Conduct surveys and gather feedback from instructors, trainees, and stakeholders to inform curriculum improvements.

    + Research and analyze curriculum practices and training models from other states to identify innovative and effective approaches.

    + Facilitate curriculum reviews and ensure alignment of training materials—including lesson plans, presentations, and assessment tools—with learning objectives.

    + Coordinate curriculum development timelines, milestones, and project management.

    + Work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

    + Assist with identifying and addressing training needs through coordination with POST staff and law enforcement training personnel statewide.

    + Assist with public records requests.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Good knowledge of training theory;

    + Experience performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework and evaluating training;

    + Experience presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations;

    + Experience using a variety of training methods.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in curriculum development, and instructional design.

    + Writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style.
