The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for executing activities related to the aftermarket product design and development as well as department leadership. This role will report to Rotary Wing Product Development engineering manager.
The Engineering Supervisor shall ensure all department activities are effectively coordinated with other functional departments (manufacturing, sales, quality, sourcing, etc.). The Engineering Supervisor shall lead individual projects while also providing leadership to department product and regulatory engineers.
This position is to use his/her abilities and background knowledge to lead the development of conceptual information into new products as well as the improvement of existing products. Product designs resulting from this department's efforts will utilize the principles of Simple by Design and Zero Defects to ensure products are profitably manufactured and provide a competitive advantage for Parker Lord and our customers. The engineering supervisor shall support the coordination and prioritization of regulatory certification and compliance matters as applicable to Part 21 (PMA) and Part 145 (repair station) activities.
This position works closely with cross functional team members to provide technical and manufacturing support in the areas of product design, manufacturing and quality. This position will also be responsible for maintaining an aggressive risk avoidance program when designing new products and reduce inherent risks found to be associated with existing products.
+ Develop new products, derivatives of existing products and improve existing products.
+ Recommend resource allocations and participate in the establishment of specific requirements.
+ Aligning cross functional resources to support the launch of new aftermarket focused products/projects.
+ Drive team engagement using tools such as situational leadership and the established High-Performance Team (HPT) purpose and goals.
+ Direct the preparation of design concepts to meet product specifications with focus on safety, engagement, customer experience, profitable growth, and financial performance in alignment with the Win Strategy™.
+ Direct the activities of engineering change control on production drawings.
+ Working with leadership, coordinate the activities of supporting personnel (Engineers, Drafters, Test Lab, etc.) on all projects assigned.
+ Strengthen the relationships between Parker Lord and the regulatory bodies (FAA, EASA, etc.).
+ Develop and implement succession plan for FAA DER.
+ Know and apply current engineering practices considering manufacturing and quality control.
+ Make and/or direct the calculations involving engineering sciences (static, dynamics) and other associated subjects.
+ Supports the activities of the Product Managers, Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Assurance.
+ Keep abreast of competitive product lines and market developments.
+ Perform the administrative functions of budgeting, spending control, salary/performance reviews, and capital planning.
+ Cooperate with Parker International coordination activities.
+ Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.
+ Champion the utilization of the new product introduction and aftermarket processes.
Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
+ 5+ years of prior experience working in an engineering team setting.
+ Must demonstrate effective organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
+ Fluent in English both written and verbal.
Preferred:
+ Master’s degree
+ 1-2 years leadership experience
This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
