Senior Civil Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to act as the central design figure on our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing layouts of grading, street improvements, and underground facilities within design standards, agency processing requirements, and client expectations. This role involves performing complex design tasks, solving major design problems, and coordinating with governmental agencies.

Responsibilities

+ Design layouts of grading, street improvements, and underground facilities.

+ Perform complex design tasks and solve major design problems.

+ Develop design concepts and standards under the direction of the Manager.

+ Coordinate with governmental agencies and act as a design resource for team members.

+ Train and coach junior team members to contribute to their professional growth.

+ Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules, and coordinate team work with the Manager.

+ Prepare technical reports and calculations including hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthwork, and water demand.

+ Ensure work/design is of high quality, cost-effective, and meets agency standards.

+ Supervise interns, associate engineers, designers, and engineers.

+ Coordinate staffing needs with the Manager.

+ Serve as a design resource and leader for the team in the Manager's absence.

+ Assist the Manager with proposal, schedule, and extras preparation.

+ Initiate, implement, and promote new ideas and procedures.

+ Provide surveyors with staking plans and resolve construction discrepancies.

+ Provide construction support and develop responses to RFIs.

+ Determine plan or report format and complete necessary documentation for design packages.

+ Assist the Manager in processing plans for approval.

+ Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent discipline.

+ Minimum of 5 to 7 years of land development design experience.

+ Minimum two years independently solving complex engineering problems within land development.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, LDD, and/or Civil 3D software.

+ EIT certification required.

+ Experience in grading, hydrology, site planning, stormwater management, drainage, street maintenance, cost estimation, schedule planning, and technical report writing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with residential, commercial, and urban design.

+ Strong leadership and team management skills.

+ Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Work Environment

The company offers an alternative work schedule, including half-day Fridays and a hybrid office schedule.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $122000.00/yr.
