    Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

    Job Description

    Heavy Equipment Operators run dozers, excavators, and rollers to prep earthwork for construction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery to assist with construction, excavation, and other projects.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate dozers, excavators, and rollers to prepare earthwork for construction projects.

    + Conduct grading, leveling, trench digging, and utility installation.

    + Ensure safety protocols are followed, including adherence to OSHA guidelines.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of civil/site work construction experience

    + Ability to operate dozers and excavators with no supervision

    + OSHA 10 Certification

    + Experience in construction and heavy equipment operation

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with backhoes

    + Knowledge of earthwork and grading

    + Ability to perform trench digging and utility installation

    Work Environment

     

    You will be part of a team ranging from 2-3 to over 10 people, depending on the project. Reporting to the project foreman, your shift will start at 7:00 am and finish at 3:30 pm. Flexibility with start and finish times is required, as overtime is common in the busy season, with potential for 10-15+ hours per week. Occasionally, overnight work may be required. Work will be conducted 100% outside on large parking lots and non-highway roads, often in hot and sunny conditions. Candidates must be prepared to work in the heat.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, New York.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
