We are currently hiring a Technical Fellow in Mechanical Engineering to join the Advanced Airframes Department of the Hardware Engineering organization located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
+ The Mechanical Technical Fellow will support a variety of development efforts and will be responsible to ensure technical rigor is being implemented relative to all aspects of mechanical design.
+ Technical Fellows are recognized as prominent experts within the field and are utilized to solve numerous, abstract, and complex challenges.
+ You will support all development phases including mechanical design architecture, development execution, qualification, and transition to production.
+ You will partner with both program and functional leadership for all Mechanical Non-Recurring and Recurring tasks.
+ Additional responsibilities of the Mechanical Fellow include ensuring all Mechanical related scopes across the programs are executed per program plan with a cohesive technical approach.
+ The role requires proactive and effective collaboration and communication across the program, with members of the Chief Technologist Pyramids and technical subject matter experts, with the Program Management Office, and with the appropriate Customer stakeholders.
+ Provide the technical execution leadership required to design, develop, integrate & test, verify, qualify and deliver mechanical systems that comply with performance requirements and Design To Cost targets.
+ Communicate both to the Raytheon leadership and the customer community to provide program status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed, while influencing to ensure program alignment and teamwork.
+ As a senior member of the Mechanical Leadership Team, contribute to developing and aligning execution strategies, developing and implementing best practices across the organization, support the development maturation of emerging technologies to deliver a production ready design within a challenging schedule and system.
+ Provide mentoring and guidance across the organization.
+ Ability to design, research, and develop advanced technology applications to support new product and/or business opportunities.
+ Provide technical leadership to engineering disciplines of electronics packaging, Guidance Navigation and Control, Structural/Thermal analysis, material and processes, and integration and test.
Qualifications You Must Have
+ Typically requires: A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 10 years’ experience
+ 12 years of prior relevant experience within the field of airframe mechanical design and missile structures
+ Experience in Missile All Up Round (AUR) design and/or production
+ Experience with hypersonic airframe architecture and/or environment derivations
+ Experience applying design for manufacturing principles and/or life cycle serviceability
+ Experience with air carried platform mechanical integration
+ Experience managing teams in a technical capacity
+ Minimum of one required in the last 10 years: Patent (IRC Approved, patent filed, or patent issued) and Technical Publications.
Qualfications We Prefer:
+ Active Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense)
+ Experience with leading development and maintenance across multiple program sites
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
+ Extensive experience in mechanical task leadership and Airframe mechanical design
+ Cost Account Manager experience
+ Program Management certification or experience
+ Experience with Scrum at Scale
+ Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
+ Excellent presentation and proposal skills
+ Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
+ Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 160,000 USD - 322,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
