    Introduction

     

    Your role and responsibilities

    Site Reliability Engineer, IBM Corporation, Austin, TX (Up to 60% telecommuting permitted):

    * Work on open-source reliability and resiliency systems and software applications/packages providing recommendations on when to incorporate AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies.

    * Analyze business needs, problem determination, advise and design, build, test, deploy, changes and maintenance of a well-engineered information system and ecosystems.

    * Analyze the performance and resiliency of the systems related to enterprise business requirements and provide solutions to optimize/streamline the environment to minimize cost and maximize business value.

    * Understand the complete technology stack, from the hardware level, through the virtualization layers and into the applications themselves.

    * Architect solutions for monitoring and event management, observability, and performance while meeting all SLAs.

    * Monitor job logs, journals, and QSYSOPR messaging queues.

    * Responsible to query system resources using SQL and understand SQL services available on the system, given the version and release of the OS.

    * Work with cloud team to automate manual tasks and services through Python scripts and CL.

    * Leverage cloud-based resources such as firewall rules, identity and access management, and storage options.

    * Lead team through traditional silos of applications and operations transition while adopting DevOps best practices.

    * Utilize: Db2, VS (Visual Studio) Code, Service Now, RPG Programming (Report Program Generator Programming), CL (Control Language), SQL (Structured Query Language), and Python.

     

    Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT Management or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Developer, System Reliability Engineer or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Db2, VS Code, Service Now, RPG Programming, CL, SQL, and Python. $147590 to $234285 per year. Full time. SN126.
