Farmingdale State College invites applications for a Lecturer of Psychology. The teaching load will consist of 15 credit hours per semester. Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring students in our Applied Psychology B.S. program as well as developing and supervising internships and senior projects. Excellent teaching, participation in campus governance, and service to the department are expected. The successful candidate will possess a graduate degree in Psychology or a closely related field and will be able to teach courses in Abnormal Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Individual and Group Counseling, Psychological Measurement & Assessment, Multicultural Psychology and/or Statistics for Psychology.

At Farmingdale State College, lecturers are expected to be excellent teachers and to provide service to the department. Successful candidates should exhibit a strong interest and high level of competence in teaching, with the expectation that they will deliver courses in hybrid, online, and traditional face-to-face formats. The service component of the workload involves student advisement and active participation in departmental, school, and college-wide committees. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about contributing to the overall educational and academic community at Farmingdale State College.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Graduate Degree in Psychology, or a closely related field.

+ Ability to teach courses in Abnormal Psychology.

+ Ability to teach courses in Individual and Group Counseling, Forensic Psychology, Psychological Measurement & Assessment, Multicultural Psychology and/or Statistics for Psychology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ PhD in Psychology or a closely related field.

+ At least two years of college teaching experience.

+ Experience mentoring undergraduate research projects.

+ Experience advising undergraduate students.

+ A demonstrated record of scholarship and a research program suitable for undergraduate involvement.

Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

+ For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, May 13, 2025, and ending Tuesday, May 27, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

+ SALARY: $65,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $69,000Total Compensation.
