    Oversees the vision, strategic direction and day-to-day management of each engineering fleet team, avionics engineering team, and the predictive maintenance team. Directs groups within area of responsibility to support and achieve the goals of the company and the department. Plays a key role in successful collaboration with all groups within the Integrated Operations organization.

    What you'll do

    + Mentors a team of senior managers, managers and staff on career growth and enrichment

    + Establishes and maintains influential relationship with aircraft manufacturers, component manufacturers and industry organizations

    + Establishes and encourages a culture of collaboration, caring, technical excellence, and professionalism that supports the goals of the company, providing an atmosphere where individuals and team contributions are encouraged and recognized

    + Ensures that training programs and standards are established and administered for each group within area of responsibility

    + Interfaces with persons or groups both inside and outside of Integrated Operations to promote cooperation in achieving departmental and division goals

    + Supports revenue and operational objectives of American Airlines

    + Sets the strategic vision for key programs of the Fleet Engineer organization

    + Keeps informed of day-to day airline operations, maintains an account of reasons for aircraft delays and cancellations and oversees efforts to eliminates these events through education, revising operations, improving services and/or modifying processes or equipment

    + Oversees evaluation of new methods, products and equipment to improve aircraft reliability and/or reduce maintenance costs

    + Keeps informed of changes and requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations; reviews and oversees submittal of comments on proposed changes and implementation of configuration changes as required

    + Ensures policies and procedures meet the needs of American Airlines and comply with Federal Aviation Regulations

    + Assists in the development of capital, expense and headcount budgets and monitors / controls associated costs

    + Attends industry meetings and represents American Airlines at meetings, as required

     

    All you'll need for success

    Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation, related field of study, or equivalent experience/training

    + 10 years of airline industry experience

    + 7 years of leadership experience in an area related to technical operations and aircraft maintenance

    + Experience in managing and coaching teams

    + Experience working/interacting effectively with FAA

    + Demonstrated knowledge of:

    + American Airlines company policy and CAMP

    + FAA, OSHA, EPA regulations pertaining to aircraft maintenance, repair, engineering and vendor management

    + Major/minor repair and alteration development and substantiation

    + Safety/ Airworthiness investigation, evaluation and root cause analysis

    + Reliability analysis (airframe and component)

    Skills, Licenses & Certifications

    + Ability to influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills

    + Ability to be an action-oriented and results-driven leader, with a natural aptitude for engaging employees across multiple workgroups

    + Ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally

    + Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written

    + Strong project management skills and the ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and maintain the highest regard for safety
