A Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Leukemia, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, United States. This position reports to Hussein A. Abbas, MD, PhD (primary mentor).
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our leukemia research laboratory. The candidate must possess a robust background in molecular and cellular biology, immunology (NK/T cells), and in vivo murine studies. Prior knowledge or background in AML is not a prerequisite. The candidate will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of leukemias such as AML, mastocytosis, and immune cell interactions, and/or the development of both in vitro and in vivo models to study these mechanisms. The scope of the position involves highly translational research, employing antibody-based treatments, cellular therapies, or other related therapeutic approaches.
Responsibilities include:
• Conducting experimental research on leukemia.
• Immune and inflammation-based studies in leukemia
• Developing and utilizing in vitro and in vivo models for leukemia research.
• Performing molecular and cellular biology experiments.
• Engaging in functional genomics studies.
• Expertise in Incucyte or other cell killing assays
• Expertise in flow cytometry analysis
• Collaborating with both experimental and computational team members.
*LEARNING OBJECTIVES*
Candidates will learn how to perform translational work. The work will be integrated with immunology, functional genomics, and computational results, allowing multidisciplinary learning. Candidates will work in a team-based science, allowing for collaborations.
*ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*
• Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Immunology, Molecular Biology, or Cellular Biology).
• Demonstrated experience with immunology and mouse models.
• Proficient in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
• Familiarity with flow cytometry.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Independently able to read and interpret scientific literature, design experiments, troubleshoot experiments, and present their work.
