Position Description
This position announcement is for Youth Case Manager 1, a full-time Civil Service position in Juvenile Court. This position performs professional case management and intervention services for youth and families coming before Juvenile Court. Performs related duties as required.
Davidson County Juvenile Court’s mission is to prevent problems, promote the positive potential in all people, and pursue fairness and hope.
Flexible schedule to be available 24/7 to youth, staff and community partners.
This recruitment may be used to fill Civil Service and Grant-Funded positions.
Typical Duties
+ Perform professional case management services, including home, school and program visits.
+ Assist youth with the development and implementation of treatment and rehabilitation plans.
+ Evaluate case progress toward treatment and rehabilitation goals.
+ Use information obtained from the family to supervise case management, maintain records, advocate for youth, conduct home study investigations, inform the court about progress, and make recommendations to the court.
+ Conduct evidence-based assessments to determine the nature and scope of the problems related to the involvement of children and families with Juvenile Court.
+ Conduct field work in homes or other locations in the community.
+ Coordinate with school personnel regarding educational needs for youth.
+ Support the schools in monitoring attendance and behavioral issues of juveniles at school.
+ Testify in court proceedings.
+ May facilitate Foster Care Review Board meetings and act as a liaison between Foster Care Review Board and the Court by facilitating permanency planning hearings.
+ May conduct room searches and after-hour curfew compliance checks with law enforcement appropriate cases.
+ May transport individuals who are under court supervision.
+ Work with non-custodial parents to obtain legal custody, parenting time, and establish child support.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Employees in this classification shall be automatically upgraded to the next level in this classification series provided all of the criteria of Policy 5.6 B-I “Upgrades for Targeted Classifications” are met.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Background or experience with Trauma-Informed Care and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
+ Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel
+ Knowledge and experience with courtroom procedures and available community resource agencies
+ Bilingual
+ Knowledge and experience in interviewing, making case assessments, counseling with and assisting children and families with a juvenile court or child-serving agency
