The Covey Center for the Arts is looking for a part-time Event Production Manager to oversee setup and management of assigned events. This position involves facilitating events, fulfilling client needs, operating theater equipment for performances, and supervising all crew members for assigned events and work calls.

What is the compensation package?
Pay Rate: $17.00 - 20.00 per hour (depending on experience). Payment will be made by direct deposit.
What are the main duties?
+ Communicate with clients and facilitate client needs.
+ Supervise technical staff during assigned events and work calls.
+ Coordinate and execute technical aspects for assigned events.
+ Operate as show caller.
+ Setup and operate lighting, staging, and audio/video equipment.
+ Load and unload trucks with theatrical equipment, props, sets, etc.
+ Help with set construction.
+ Be a member of running crews for live performances.
+ Perform care and maintenance of stage equipment.
+ Perform backstage custodial tasks.
+ Help in other areas of the building.
+ Perform other related duties as required.
What do I need to apply?
+ High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ At least 2 years of training or experience working in a theatrical environment, including setting up and running sound and/or lighting equipment, console operation, programing, design, and troubleshooting.
+ Previous experience supervising staff in a similar environment.
+ Ability and willingness to work long irregular hours including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
+ Must comply with Provo City dress and grooming standards.
+ Valid, lawful driver's license. (Applicant will be disqualified from driving for the City on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
+ Applicant should demonstrate skills in one or both of the following areas:
+ Lighting
+ Proficiency with EOS family of lighting consoles
+ Experience in dance, theatrical, and concert lighting
+ Understanding of DMX protocols and intelligent fixtures
+ Ability to hang, focus, repair and maintain theatrical lighting equipment
+ Audio
+ Proficiency with Yamaha and Allen & Heath consoles and digital and analog audio equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
+ Ability to mix a multi-microphone show (potentially up to 48 channels), including both concert and theatrical performances
+ Understanding of sound and video related software including, but not limited to: QLab, Dante Networking, Wireless Workbench, and Apple Scripts
What are the hours?
Schedule varies, but will be Monday through Saturday, based on performance schedules. Long shifts will be required.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
This position involves longs shifts, walking, bending, climbing ladders, stooping reaching, lifting up to 70 lbs., quick movements to exit dangerous situations, assuming uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time, working at heights of up to 80 feet, and exposure to dangerous equipment, hazardous settings and high voltages. This position may also include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including; handling emergency situations, meeting strict deadlines, contact with individuals in confrontation or uncomfortable circumstances, and other stressful conditions related to the workplace.
What is the selection process?
This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
