    General Description

    The City University of New York, City College of New York (CCNY) offers outstanding teaching, learning, and research on a beautiful campus nestled in Harlem. CCNY is an integral part of the civic, urban, and artistic energy of New York and inseparable from its history. CCNY’s Continuing and Professional Studies (CPS) shares the mission as it strives to offer training for the community and beyond serving nearly 2,000 students a year. CPS has received a three-year Vocational ESOL (VESL) grant in our Adult Education program. CPS is seeking an experienced Full-time Adult Education Manager with a strong commitment to adult education, workforce, and the advancement of immigrants for a new three-year Vocational ESOL (VESL) program.

    Other Duties

    + Reporting to the Director of Continuing and Professional Studies (CPS), the Adult Education Manager will oversee the general operations of a new NYC Small Business Services VESL program, including building relationships with “restaurant partners” and coordinating ESOL classes at restaurants and online, with our grant partner, Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC)

    + The Manager will work with CCNY and BMCC key grant staff to maintain partnerships and build relationships with multiple stakeholders of the grant, including facilitating regular check-in meetings with funder

    + Collaborate with the CPS and BMCC Directors and Instructors in effective program management, creation of operational procedures, and continuous monitoring of goals and outcomes

    + Work with administrative staff to schedule and organize regular intake and registration of student/restaurant workers, including applicant online or in-person registration and intake processes, English level testing, assignment to appropriate levels, and organization and analysis of data to inform program improvement

    + Monitor progress of classes onsite and online by conducting periodic class observations in partner restaurant sites and providing feedback for professional development

    + Compile and review various reports to ensure program is meeting program goals and benchmarks

    + Work with CPS Director to build annual goals and monitor performance targets for site and programs; assist in growing enrollment, retention, and other program outcomes annually

    + Work with PT Administrative staff with timely data-entry of student information in internal database (Xenegrade). Ensure that all required documentations are done on time and submitted on deadlines

    + Coordinate with CPS Director and BMCC FT Instructor and Curriculum Developer on different aspects of curriculum for each partner restaurant, including cultural sensitivity and inclusion of immigrant issues

    + Work with Administrative staff to support instructors in coordination of classes and management of technology and administrative needs, including facilitating use of instructional tools and technology, such as Google Classroom, Google Suite, Zoom, Brightspace. Create a supportive environment for instructors and restaurant workers/students

    + Coordinate staff to attend professional development trainings to improve skills and program knowledge

    + Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    + Minimum educational requirement: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Social Work, Education, Hospitality, Business or related field

    + Experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry or immigrant organization a big plus. If Bachelor’s degree holder, at least three (3) years of experience working with immigrant adults in an educational setting or in community services; If Associates, at least five (5) years of experience

    + Knowledge of immigrant workforce communities, adult education operations from recruitment and intake to outcomes management and reporting

    + Must be skillful with digital technology (Email, Spreadsheets, E-forms, etc.), detail-oriented, and creative to implement a core aspect of the new program: development and cultivation of partnerships with NYC restaurants

    + Willingness to learn and ability to work well independently, be highly organized, and collaborative. Must be able to work effectively in a team, and follow through on processes

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, high interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships

    + A self-starter with excellent time management skills; ability to meet deadlines, self-motivated, solution-oriented, and resourceful

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when dealing with private information

    + Bi-lingual English/Spanish (spoken and written) preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office and clerical experience required

    + Must be able to travel to BMCC and to partner restaurants in different boroughs where classes are held

    + Must be able to work in-person and have flexibility to work some weekends, if necessary
