Job Description
We are seeking a diligent Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing intricate mechanical assembly tasks, building units independently, and executing wire soldering. You will also engage in microscope assembly and conduct visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met. This position requires manual dexterity, as you will work with small assemblies and engage in both sitting and standing activities throughout the day.
Responsibilities
+ Perform mechanical assembly and build units independently.
+ Execute wire soldering and small assemblies requiring manual dexterity.
+ Conduct microscope assembly and visual inspections.
+ Review documents and update computer records.
+ Update raw material logs and batch record reports.
+ Measure raw materials used in the manufacturing lab area.
+ Take build requests and instructions from engineering for non-standard tasks.
+ Interpret and execute non-standard instructions while coordinating with other operators.
+ Participate in small side projects and drive the assembly line.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in mechanical assembly and batch record management.
+ Experience in prototype assembly and assembly line operations.
+ Comfortable with research and development tasks.
+ Ability to sit and stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
+ Competence in microscope assembly and soldering.
+ Skilled in using hand tools, multimeters, pipetting, and laboratory equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous experience in manual assembly and semi-automated manufacturing.
+ Strong documentation skills with preference for paper-based systems.
+ Effective communication and feedback skills with engineering and manufacturing leadership.
+ Willingness to learn and collaborate with a diverse team.
+ Experience in executing non-standard builds and translating engineering instructions to the floor.

Work Environment
Work is conducted during the 1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm, with potential extended hours until 3:30pm or 4pm. Saturday work is from 7am to 2pm, with advance notice provided. The role requires wearing protective attire including a gown, mask, gloves, hair cover, and shoe covers. Expect to learn over 100 different processes, some with cycle times of several hours. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial, as the build schedule may change. Overtime may be required, and the ability to stay focused and self-motivated is essential.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
