    Job Title: Laborer/Heavy Equipment Operator

    Job Description

    We are seeking experienced heavy equipment operators to join our team working on solar site construction projects. The ideal candidate will have over two years of experience operating dozers for roadway, solar, or commercial site construction. This role requires flexibility to perform labor tasks on-site and a willingness to travel within the Eastern part of New York. Additionally, candidates must be prepared to work overtime and demonstrate strong safety hygiene.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, dozers, and skid steers to move, dig, load, and unload materials.

    + Dig trenches, backfill, break concrete or rock, and level ground for excavation.

    + Pour concrete, clear sites, and build foundations for construction.

    + Push dirt, rocks, and debris, and level the ground for moving materials.

    + Consider work surfaces and how they affect duties, including weather and material conditions.

    + Perform routine inspections, repairs, and adjustments to equipment for maintenance.

    + Ensure the work site is safe by conducting pre-operational checks and following strict safety protocols.

    + Communicate effectively with other operators and foremen to ensure efficient project completion.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience operating excavators, dozers, and skid steers.

    + Knowledge of grading, GPS Dozer, site construction, land clearing, and road construction.

    + Skills in civil construction and earthworks.

    + Mechanical and technological aptitude.

    + Effective communication and teamwork skills.

    + Attention to detail and safety protocol adherence.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + OSHA 10 certification.

    + Proven experience in site construction.

    + Ability to inspect and maintain machinery.

    + Understanding of operating instructions and safety protocols.

    Work Environment

     

    Work outdoors 100% of the time, enduring various weather conditions including rain, snow, cold, heat, and wind. The work schedule is Monday to Friday with frequent Saturday work. Shifts start at 6:30 am and typically conclude around 4:00 pm, with 2 to 20 hours of overtime per week, depending on the project schedule. Crew sizes range from 1-2 up to 10, reporting to a foreman or project superintendent.

    This is a Contract position based out of Gansevoort, New York.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
