Job Description
This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.

Our team is seeking a Veteran Intern, Trades Helper for our Bureau of Field Services Team. We are looking for someone who can embrace the challenges of meeting our goals and exceeding the standards!
Veteran employment opportunities with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are made possible through funding provided by the Federal Highway Administration. This program is intended to meet the employment needs of honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces as they transition into the civilian workforce. Required Education and Experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Preferred Experience:
One year of experience as a laborer assisting in the construction, electrical, or mechanical trades.

To be considered for this position you must:
+ Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
+ Be an honorably discharged veteran.
+ Attach a copy of your DD-214 to your application. This document is required in order to serve in the internship program.
All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test, physical, criminal background, and driving records indicate eligibility for employment.
