The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University invites applications for a Lecturer in Digital Media. The successful candidate will teach 3 courses each semester. This appointment is for up to three years with a possibility of renewal.
We seek applicants with an MFA in Digital Media, or cognate field, who could anchor a digital-based curriculum in the Studio program and contribute, as needed, to Graphic Design. Primary responsibilities will involve teaching courses that would support development of a Digital Media track, including such offerings as an introduction to digital media art at the lower-level, and motion graphics, interactivity, and emerging technologies at the upper-level.

The Department of Art and Design is a robust program offering BA and BFA degrees, serving more than 160 majors. Incoming faculty will join us at an exciting moment in the continuing growth of our program, as part of the new School of the Arts which brings together the departments of Art and Design, Art History, Cinema, Music and Theatre. The successful candidate will be inclined to work collaboratively with colleagues in support of new and ongoing initiatives within and beyond the department, as appropriate.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ An MFA in Digital Media, or equivalent degree by September 1, 2025
+ Experience in Adobe software; including raster, vector, and time-based workflows
+ Experience with contemporary issues related to digital and time-based creative practices
+ Experience in video production
+ Experience with creative coding, i.e. HTML, CSS, Processing, Javascript, et al
Preferred Qualifications:
+ College level teaching experience
+ Relevant industry or professional experience
+ Cross-disciplinary experience across digital media, studio arts, and graphic design
