    Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc., a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for a talented and motivated **Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer I–III** focused on welding and fabrication at our manufacturing facility in **Greenville, North Carolina** .

    What you will do:

    + Lead and implement continuous improvement projects specifically related to welding and fabrication processes, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

    + Evaluate and optimizewelding techniques, material handling, and fixture/tooling design to support process consistency and throughput.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve weld quality issues, including spatter, porosity, distortion, and other weld defects.

    + Support the automation of welding processes through robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies.

    + Provide technical leadership for welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and resistance welding, including weld parameter development and process control.

    + Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to develop weld procedures, control plans, and standard work.

    + Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives related to welding and fabrication issues.

    + Assist in design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews for weldments and fabricated components during new product introduction (NPI).

    + Specify and justify tooling and capital equipment to improve weld consistency, reduce waste, and enhance operator ergonomics.

    + Maintain and improve process documentation, including weld process specs, engineering change notices, and compliance to internal and external standards (AWS, ISO, etc.).

    What you will need:

    Level I:

    + Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or an Associate’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant manufacturing experience.

    Level II:

    + Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or an Associate’s degree with 5–7 years of experience in welding/fabrication engineering or CI roles.

    Level III:

    + Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or an Associate’s degree with 7–10 years of experience, with a focus on welding/fabrication and process improvement.

    Skills, Experience & Abilities:

    + Expertise in welding processes (MIG, TIG, robotic, resistance welding) and metal fabrication techniques (cutting, forming, fixturing).

    + Knowledge of lean manufacturing, DFT, and continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, 6σ).

    + Strong ability to conduct time studies, process analysis, and develop standard work.

    + Proficient in welding symbols, drawings, GD&T, and use of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

    + Experience with weld inspection standards and quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, and root cause analysis.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to lead cross-functional project teams and train shop floor employees.

    + Strong project management and organizational skills.

    + Familiarity with automation systems, PLCs, and digital manufacturing systems is a plus.
