Head Coach - Men's Lacrosse

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
The Head Coach in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, is responsible for planning, directing, programming, supervising, and implementing the duties and functions of the sports program.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management
Oversees all aspects of the assigned athletic program, including coaching, promotion, team travel coordination, equipment requisition and maintenance, assistant supervision, study hall/tutoring oversight, and other assigned duties.
Academic Oversight
Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring timely submission of progress reports and weekly study hall/tutoring compliance.
Compliance
Maintains thorough knowledge of and compliance with all College, Department, Regional, and NJCAA policies. Communicates relevant policies to staff and student-athletes.
Administrative Coordination
Assists in preparing and meeting deadlines for all required forms, documentation, and reports.
Instruction & Development
Delivers high-quality instruction to develop athletic skills, techniques, and physical conditioning. Stays current with coaching trends by attending clinics, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
Practice & Event Supervision
Provides active supervision during all practices, competitions, and in locker room settings.
Policy Adherence
Follows all departmental guidelines and procedures as outlined in the Athletics Department Policy Manual.
Academic Prioritization
Promotes academic success as a top priority, respecting exam schedules when planning practices and competitions.
Recruitment & Retention
Effectively recruits student-athletes annually and maintains team enrollment. Builds strong relationships with prospects and families, presenting an honest and positive view of the College and its programs.
Fundraising & Promotion
Supports and participates in Athletic Department fundraising and promotional initiatives as directed.
Professional Representation
Upholds the College's reputation by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior in all interactions with the community, alumni, and media.
Respect & Inclusion
Treats all individuals?coaches, officials, students, and colleagues?with dignity and respect, fostering an inclusive and discrimination-free environment.
Cross-Department Collaboration
Works cooperatively with athletic staff and campus departments such as Admissions and Financial Aid, ensuring effective communication and scheduling.
Athlete Engagement
Encourages enjoyment of sport and recognizes individual and team accomplishments.
End-of-Season Reporting
Submits a comprehensive season report and contributes to budget planning and manages team funds responsibly.
Program Support
Demonstrates alignment with departmental goals, and fosters a positive, team-oriented culture.
Additional Duties
Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the AVP/Director of Athletics.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Background
Bachelor's Degree
Experience
Experience working within a college environment is preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Ability to work well with college students. Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Willingness to accept responsibility for accomplishment of program objectives under the direction of the Assistant Vice President. The head coach must also be certified or willing to become certified in first aid, CPR, and AED use. Additionally, the head coach must also possess a valid driver's license, free of any major violations, and must also be certified or willing to become certified in defensive driving. Experience working with and advocating for diverse populations in a collegiate athletic setting.

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement and Inclusion
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week. The stipend for this position is set at $12,000. Incumbent must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Hours and compensation are set by the Genesee Community College Association (GCCA).
