    Role Purpose: Mid-level position assembling and validating test fixtures and equipment. Conduct periodic dynamic and static testing in accordance with governmental regulations (NHTSA). Dynamic tests are performed using free falling impact probes and static tests are performed using electro-mechanical test devises. Use of accelerometers, load cells, displacement transducers, PC based data acquisition systems as well as knowledge of basic physics; electronics and computer literacy are required.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    + Assemble test fixtures according to print for production orders. Evaluate and test fixtures prior to shipment.

    + May assist in performing standard production assembly of test dummies – which includes determining the centre of gravity (CG) for designated subassemblies by weighing the part on the scale and performing an algebraic equation utilizing the chart

    + May assist in performing standard production certification testing according to NHTSA regulations, SAE recommended practices, and/or Humanetics procedures.

    + Requires wiring transducers for use in testing and must be able to troubleshoot transducer problems.

    + Performs experimental or developmental testing according to specifications set by the Engineering staff.

    + Perform scheduled equipment maintenance and calibrations.

    + Responsible for visually checking parts to make sure they are correct. File necessary internal CCRs to track non-conformities

    + Assist with the training of customers regarding the use and operation of Test Equipment.

    + Inspect and prepare final assembly products for shipment.

    + Other duties as assigned

    Critical Competencies:

    The ability to: read basic blue prints, submit drawing corrections, establish BOMs, recommend design changes, and practice simple electronic wiring capabilities. The position also requires: basic data entry skills, mechanical ability, adherence to established test procedures, and attention to details, flexibility, dependability and initiative.

     

    Language Skills

     

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of this organization.

     

    Reasoning Ability

     

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Education and/or Experience:

    + Two year certificate from a college or technical school and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Simple electronic wiring and soldering skills.

    + Basic data entry.

    + Mechanical ability.

    + Assembly work in a manufacturing environment; where blue print reading is required.

    A math aptitude to solve algebraic equations, setup tests and instrumentation, collect data, taking and recording accurate measurements, and strict attention to detail are a necessity.

    + Lifting up to 50 lbs, using hand tools - such as wrenches, torque wrenches, and screw drivers is a must.
