General Function:
The Junior Multimedia Designer is responsible for supporting the creation, design, capture, and production of a wide range of content for Hy-Vee’s social marketing channels. This role’s primary mediums include video production, photography, and design for use across social and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a passion for producing high-quality, engaging content from concept through final execution. This individual should be highly organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong skills in both video and design, appreciate a well-crafted transition sequence, and feel comfortable working behind—and occasionally in front of—the camera.

Accountable and Reports to: Director, Creative and Content
Direct Reports: None
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Support the end-to-end creation of organic social media content, from concept execution to final delivery
+ Capture video and photo content; serve as on-camera talent and voiceover as needed
+ Execute fundamental video production techniques including lighting, sound, framing, and set-up
+ Create props and shop for materials when needed for concept execution
+ Edit video content: compile footage, convert files, enhance audio, and apply basic color correction
+ Retouch and format photo assets, ensuring correct sizing, resolution, and platform consistency
+ Apply conceptual thinking to express ideas through engaging design and content
+ Manage the design process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
+ Collaborate with managers, creative directors, writers, producers, and other team members to ensure content aligns with brand standards and business objectives
+ Apply brand guidelines and creative direction consistently across all deliverables
+ Work independently and within a team to meet project deliverables and timelines
+ Submit drafts for approval, revise designs as needed, and ensure alignment with strategic goals
+ Adapt to changing priorities and manage deadlines in a fast-paced creative environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

+ Excellent organizational, time management, communication and problem-solving skills
+ Strong interest and hands-on experience in video production and editing
+ Comfortable working both behind and occasionally in front of the camera
+ Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma.
+ Solid understanding of video production fundamentals, including sound/microphone setup, framing, and lighting
+ Strong grasp of design principles such as typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy
+ Skilled in video and photo editing, color correction, and basic animation techniques
+ Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, creative environment
+ Collaborative and receptive to feedback, while capable of working independently
+ Flexible and able to pivot quickly in response to shifting priorities
+ Detail-oriented with strong visual storytelling and timing
+ Actively follows social media trends to inform content strategies and techniques
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design, Visual Studies, or a related field required
+ 1–2 years of experience in a creative, social media, or multimedia production role (including internships), preferably in an agency or design firm environment
+ Portfolio showcasing video and photo content creation and editing required
Working Conditions: This is a hybrid position based at our HST location in Grimes, Iowa, with responsibilities performed in-office, from a home office, and on location as needed for content capture. The role involves frequent deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
