    Job Title: Payroll Administrator

    Job Description

    The Payroll Administrator is responsible for complex payroll processing in Canada, ensuring compliance with all provincial laws, regulations, and union requirements while maintaining accuracy in wage calculations, withholdings, deductions, and changes. The role involves reconciling and identifying risks to prevent issues with accuracy and timeliness, making recommendations, and taking appropriate action to address identified issues. This position requires partnering with Human Resources to resolve escalated complex payroll cases using research and knowledge. Additionally, the Payroll Administrator ensures compliance with all applicable federal, local, state, wage, and hour laws, reviews payroll processes to align with company philosophy, and recommends internal control or efficiency enhancements.

    Responsibilities

    + Process complex payrolls ensuring compliance with provincial laws, regulations, and union requirements.

    + Reconcile payroll data to identify risks and prevent inaccuracies.

    + Partner with Human Resources to resolve complex payroll cases.

    + Ensure compliance with federal, local, state, wage, and hour laws.

    + Review and enhance payroll processes for efficiency.

    + Create and run requested reports including year-end data, union fringes, and GL data for US and Canada.

    + Identify union updates affecting payroll configuration.

    + Manage Child Support orders, garnishments, and levies for compliance.

    + Assist practitioners with payroll questions and issues.

    + Assist in internal and external audits and year-end tasks.

    + Complete bank and tax reconciliations by payroll, quarter, and year.

    + Maintain confidentiality and protect payroll operations.

    Essential Skills

    + 8+ years of payroll processing experience.

    + Strong knowledge of US Payroll processes.

    + Experience with payroll software such as ADP EV5, ADP E-TIME, and ADP Enterprise.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Associate Degree or equivalent experience.

    + Experience with reconciliation and payroll tax.

    Work Environment

    The payroll team consists of seven members, with half located in Minnesota and others spread across the US. The role requires office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with flexibility in working hours starting as early as 7am or 8am. Initially, more office presence is required during training until confident in the role. The workspace is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of a large glass building, with payroll occupying half the floor. The team has a mix of outgoing and focused individuals. The position oversees four different payrolls with 200-500 employees each, including production and corporate employees in Virginia and a weekly service team of technicians across multiple states.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
