Job Title: Technical Specialist, Interiors, MechanismsJob Description

As a Technical Specialist in Interiors and Mechanisms, you will design and develop intricate mechanism systems and components for automotive interiors, such as air vents, storage solutions, and more. Your role involves innovating and proposing new mechanisms to enhance functionality and usability while aligning with design DNA. You will integrate mechanism systems with electrical components to create seamless user experiences and design user interfacing mechanisms with superior haptics.

Responsibilities

+ Design and develop complex mechanism systems and components for car interiors.

+ Innovate and propose new mechanisms for interior elements to improve functionality and usability.

+ Integrate mechanism systems with electrical and electronic components for seamless user experiences.

+ Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis on mechanisms.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of interior mechanisms.

+ Define product requirements and specifications and develop test plans.

+ Create prototypes of new interior mechanisms and conduct functional testing.

+ Be directly responsible for the end-to-end success of the product from concept through production.

+ Collaborate with testing teams to evaluate mechanisms for performance, haptics, ergonomics, and durability.

+ Manage suppliers in the design and production of interior components.

+ Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving design or production issues.

+ Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and technological advancements in automotive interior design.

Essential Skills

+ 8+ years of experience in design and development of automotive interior systems.

+ 4+ years of experience in design and development of interior mechanism systems such as air vents, storage solutions, etc.

+ Knowledge of gears, motors, hinges, actuators, dampers, linkages, cams, and other mechanism components.

+ Experience in kinematic analysis of mechanisms in Catia.

+ Experience in stack-up analysis of mechanism assemblies.

+ Experience creating and establishing technical product specifications and timelines.

+ Experience in integrating mechanical, electrical, and software aspects into vehicle architecture.

+ Experience in interpreting modal analysis, finite element method analysis, and computer fluid dynamics simulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in automotive interior systems or exceptional expertise in mechanism systems in other industries.

+ Working knowledge of manufacturing technologies like injection molding, stamping, casting, extrusion.

+ Education: B.S. in mechanical engineering; a master's degree is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment involves collaboration with teams such as industrial designers, electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists. You will work on integrating complex mechanism systems within vehicle architecture, ensuring smooth operations and functionality. The position requires a professional setting where you manage suppliers and provide technical support while staying updated on industry advancements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr.
