Civil Transportation Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Engineer to join our team. This role offers the flexibility to either focus on production or take on project management responsibilities. If you aspire to become a Project Manager, pursuing a Professional Engineer (PE) license is encouraged. You will be involved in municipal and public works projects, collaborating with Senior Project Managers to deliver impactful solutions.

Responsibilities

+ Perform quantity calculations and design computations.

+ Design geometric transportation infrastructure.

+ Develop roadway designs and comply with INDOT processes and procedures.

+ Create traffic signal and lighting designs.

+ Conduct drainage design, pipe sizing, inlet spacing, and culvert design with permitting.

+ Coordinate utility services.

+ Observe and monitor construction to ensure compliance with contract documents and approved materials.

+ Record field observations and verify construction quality control.

+ Make field measurements and computations of acceptable work.

+ Prepare and maintain project records in accordance with standards.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.

+ Minimum of 4 years of experience in Transportation Engineering.

+ Ability to obtain PE within a year, with preference for candidates who already possess a PE license.

+ Proficiency in Civil 3D, stormwater, drainage, roadway design, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with project management and civil engineering design.

+ Knowledge of local and state government regulations and standards.

Work Environment

Our company offers a first shift position with flexible start times between 7 AM and 9 AM, working typically 40-50 hours a week. The office is located in downtown Indianapolis, providing a casual and laid-back atmosphere within a small, tight-knit team. We work on diverse transportation, stormwater/wastewater, and construction inspection projects throughout Indiana. The environment fosters career advancement with exposure to a wide range of responsibilities. Our office is a pleasant, non-corporate setting where team members can engage in various projects without being confined to a single task.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $72.12/hr.
