    Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

     

    As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing and servicing machine tool products. This role requires assisting sales personnel and training customer personnel, while cross-training on both metal forming and metal cutting products to ensure the best overall customer service. You will work with a variety of machinery including servo motors, ball screws, bearings, motors, encoders, precision tools, and machine and tooling alignment.

    Responsibilities

    + Install machine tool products by demonstrating new machines in customer plants, including electrical or mechanical check-outs, set up, tooling, operation, and programming.

    + Prepare and submit demonstration reports accurately and promptly.

    + Diagnose and repair basic electrical/electronic, mechanical, or hydraulic problems in customer's plants during the warranty period.

    + Cross-train on mechanical, electrical, and electronic maintenance.

    + Advise and assist customers with operations and programming problems during the warranty period.

    + Perform maintenance work and provide assistance needed by the customer following the warranty period.

    + Advise and assist in the selection and ordering of tools and repair parts.

    + Prepare and submit weekly service time and expense reports accurately and promptly.

    + Attend schools, seminars, and conferences to stay updated on industry advancements.

    + Train customer personnel in processing, tooling, operating, and servicing of all products.

    Essential Skills

    + Associate’s degree in a related field or other engineering discipline preferred, with a mechatronics degree being ideal.

    + Minimum of 1-4 years of machine tools maintenance or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and laser systems.

    + Knowledge of electrical diagnostic instruments and shop/hand tools.

    + Ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics and blueprints and diagnose/troubleshoot electromechanical devices.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with CNC equipment is a plus.

    + Robotics experience is a plus.

    + Requires up to 90% travel, mostly within North America, with occasional annual trainings at HQ in Japan.

    + Must have a valid passport (or be working toward getting one) and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

    + 2 to 4 years of experience will be considered Level 1.

    + 4+ years of experience will be considered Level 2.

    Work Environment

    The role requires extensive travel, with schedules provided one week in advance. Emergency or urgent customer visits are rare. The typical travel schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekends at home. Employees are compensated for 40 hours even if a job finishes mid-week without immediate reassignment. If work is required on a Saturday, compensatory time off is provided in the following week.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr.
