We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Safety Manager to lead and implement our food safety policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, conduct regular audits, train staff, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement food safety policies and procedures.
+ Conduct regular food safety audits and inspections.
+ Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
+ Train staff on food safety practices and protocols.
+ Investigate food safety incidents and implement corrective actions.
+ Maintain accurate records of food safety activities.
+ Collaborate with other departments to ensure food safety standards are met.
+ Monitor and evaluate food safety performance metrics.
+ Stay updated on the latest food safety regulations and best practices.
+ Develop and manage food safety budgets.
+ Coordinate with suppliers to ensure food safety standards are met.
+ Prepare and present food safety reports to senior management.
+ Lead food safety certification processes.
+ Manage food safety-related projects and initiatives.
+ Respond to customer inquiries and concerns regarding food safety.
+ Implement continuous improvement initiatives for food safety.
+ Ensure proper sanitation and hygiene practices are followed.
+ Oversee pest control programs.
+ Develop emergency response plans for food safety incidents.
+ Participate in food safety-related industry groups and associations.
+ Promote a culture of Food Safety among all bakery associates through education and policy enforcement.
+ Provide oversight of Quality and Food Safety programs, ensuring compliance through regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
+ Ensure proper document control for all documentation within the bakery.
+ Demonstrate expert leadership of all third-party audits, such as SQF (Safe Quality Foods).
+ Drive continuous improvement by ensuring that LEAN tools and 5S are practiced.
+ Support R&D efforts through ingredient analysis and approval, ensuring all regulatory guidelines are met.
Essential Skills
+ 5-7 years of experience leading Quality/Food Safety/Sanitation teams in a food production environment.
+ Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety management.
+ Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
+ Experience with food safety audits and inspections.
+ Proficiency in food safety management systems.
+ Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GFSI (SQF, BRC, FSSC, IFS, etc), PCQI, and Food Defense.
+ Ability to train and educate staff on food safety practices.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
+ Experience with food safety certification processes.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bi-lingual (Spanish) speaking candidate is highly preferred.
+ HACCP certification strongly preferred.
+ Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene practices.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
+ Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety.
+ Leadership skills with a focus on associate development and accountability.
+ Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
+ Computer proficiency including MS Office products.
+ Experience with 5S and LEAN tools highly preferred.
Work Environment
The role involves supporting sanitation and quality assurance teams in a manufacturing setting. The position reports to the COO, and the work environment requires wearing hair nets and close-toed shoes. The company offers competitive benefits including 3 weeks of Paid-Time-Off, 7 holidays, and short/long term disability with 60% of premiums covered. The company is growing rapidly, having recently signed a deal to expand significantly, with anticipated growth of 2-4 times its current size over the next 3-5 years.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
Please note: there is a relocation package from $7-10K
