Description
City of Norfolk: The Slover is currently seeking a part-time Creative Studio Assistant that assists in the daily operations of the Creative Studios, design, maker, production, and sound studios. Provides customer service to clients by providing information, promoting general usage of facilities, and operating all Creative Studios equipment.
The Creative Studios comprises design, maker, production, and sound studios for The Slover.
Departmental Hiring Salary Range: $19.69 Hourly
Essential Functions
+ Assists with individual creative studio clients and group workshops.
+ Assists in facilitating creative studio intake and orientation process.
+ Assists clients with learning and using creative software applications and related technology.
+ Performs various administrative duties to support Creative Studios operations as assigned.
+ Work requires the ability to read reports, applications, policies, and general correspondence.
Education/Experience
+ Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
+ One year of experience in the creative field or related customer service work.
Preferred Experience:
•Understanding of Adobe Creative Suite.
•Experience with Apple MacOS computer hardware and related equipment.
•Experience with creative technology such as 3/D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, or similar.
Additional Information & Requirements
+ Valid driver’s license
Work Hours: This position is up to 20 hours per week. Workdays and hours will vary depending on organizational needs. Possible hours of employment may occur between the days/hours of:
Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday.
This position will require flexibility to work weekend and evening schedules.

+ Retirement
If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
+ The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
