    Crouse’s Security team is hiring a Director, Security & Parking to organize and direct the hospital's security and safety systems, the hospital switchboard, the hospital's parking garage/lots, and all Crouse Health's related parking and shuttle activities

     

    Pay Range: $100,000 plus, based on experience and education

    Director, Security & Parking Responsibilities:

    + Develops internal systems utilizing appropriate resources to support the operating needs of the assigned department(s) of responsibility including, but limited to: finance, planning, marketing, advertising, information systems, human resources and other support systems. Coordinates financial and budgetary acquisitions, allocations and utilization of resources needed for quality, cost-effective, program(s)/service(s).

    + Provides strategic guidance to leadership staff within all areas of responsibility.

    + Develops, plans, and evaluates short, mid and long-term goal setting and goal achievement through facilitation and guidance consistent with the strategic plan.

    + Maintains current industry knowledge serving as a subject matter expert; ensures compliance with all federal/state/local laws, regulatory/accrediting guidelines and professional standards within all areas of responsibility.

    + Attends and actively participates in hospital and performance improvement councils and committees as requested.

    + Proactively communicates with staff and keeps them informed on a regular basis or as needed; updates staff regarding policy changes in specialized areas.

    + Develops and utilizes department policy statements, scope of service, quality indicators and updates; revises as necessary.

    + Performs staff management functions related to employee selection, on-boarding/orientation, coaching/development, staffing, work assignments, performance management and goal alignment as guided by hospital policy and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreement (when applicable).

    + Participates, collaborates and actively engages in meetings to achieve goals and mutually beneficial outcomes.

    + Conducts regular staff meetings to disseminate hospital and/or department/division information and allows for discussion of staff concerns needing clarification or resolution.

    + Plan, organize and direct department functions and activities in consultation with the Chief Financial Officer. Establish standards of performance and staffing. Coordinate security, emergency management and parking functions. Develop, establish, implement and adherence to a security and safety program that promotes a safe working environment for hospital staff, patients and visitors. Effect changes as needed to improve services.

    + May negotiate contracts in conjunction with senior leadership for outside agencies providing security services and/or parking garage equipment and management.

    + Develop, prepare and review the annual operating budget and ensure department operates within allocated funds with the Chief Financial Officer. Apply cost-effective measures in department operation.

    + Select, orient/train, schedule and assign, direct and supervise department personnel. Interpret policies and procedures. Evaluate performance and initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, and termination. Counsel and guide personnel. Provide in-services and encourage participation in educational programs. Solve problems and grievances. Develop and maintain job descriptions and training programs. Maintain personnel records. Promote good employee and interdepartmental relations. Investigate incidents, take appropriate action, and prepare incident reports.

    + In cooperation with other departments maintain sound fire, safety and emergency management programs.

    + Assure compliance with hospital and department policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control, codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.

    + Plan and establish a protective and preventative security system. Monitor security operations. Ensure that all rounds, schedules, and directives are maintained on all shifts. Make regular tours, spot-checks, and regular examination of security records. Provide adequate coverage, evaluate and change officer assignments as necessary.

    + Maintains working relationship and communication with local and state law enforcement agencies. Represents Hospital as Title IX official. Participation in community safety and security initiatives and committees.

    + Directs the N.Y.S. Security Guard training program through the Crouse Education and Professional Development Department, which is an approved school. Conduct as an approved instructor and school director, an 8 hour pre-assignment training course, a 16 hours on-the-job training course, and an 8 hour annual course as mandated by the N.Y.S. Department of State, and the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

    + Director, Security & Parking Requirements:

    + Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or other related sciences required. Bachelor’s degree preferred

    + Ten (10) years of law enforcement experience required with at least two (2) years of management experience

    + Preferred: certification to conduct NYS Security Guard training program.

    + Preferred: Two years of security, safety management administration experience

    + Knowledge of OSHA and DNV or JCAHO requirements and inspection procedures as well as Title IX standards preferred.
