SolarWinds Application Engineer

+ Maintain/manage/provide direct support for all aspects of the SolarWinds, DataCenter Expert StruxureWare, server, and temperature monitoring applications
+ Clearly communicate, manage, maintain, support and execute mission directives to/with the project team
+ Ensure network monitoring software SolarWinds and Data Center Expert StruxureWare network, server, and temperature monitoring applications platforms are maintained/supported to quickly detect, diagnose, and resolve network performance problems and outages
+ Execute network, system, and cloud systems monitoring/surveillance, environmental monitoring, and support Cybersecurity measures
+ Develop event products, modify and maintain event baselines prior to and during MDA Ground and Flight Tests and Exercises and Wargames
+ Serve as the subject matter expert on network and system monitoring and service delivery of assigned delivered capabilities
+ Execute SolarWinds Orion database maintenance
+ Log in to the Orion Web Console and administrator accounts
+ Administer, manage, and deploy all aspects of SolarWinds within a geographically separated region
+ Manage SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) as monitoring software to enable the rapid detection, diagnosis, and resolution of network performance problems and outages while boosting troubleshooting, increasing service levels, and reducing downtime
+ Assist the Event Monitoring Team Lead in communicating with key leadership to ensure predefined service levels for the organization are achieved and to also provide insight into the impacts of the event posture
+ Provide professional upward and downward communication
+ Collaborate with Windows and Linux systems engineers, application technical support analysts and developers, internal and external support teams, network infrastructure technicians and Boundary Engineers to determine requirements for filters, events, alerts, dashboards and reporting
+ Perform administrative tasks for Systems Center Operation Manager, SolarWinds and Netscout consoles to provide application support for the respective platforms, create and maintain monitoring and notification rules
+ Review and update application security, apply patches, create console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as required
+ Utilize verbal and written communication skills to maintain accurate system documentation and provide training as required
+ Transfer knowledge via documentation and training to Business Technology resources and develop and maintain the team’s training plan and standard operating procedures/operating instructions
+ Apply knowledge in a technical field with proficiency in relevant engineering principles and practices
+ Implement solutions to difficult problems and generate concepts as evidenced by product or process improvement
+ Utilize engineering/scientific tools to integrate requirements and solve technical problems and utilize tools, techniques, processes and/or facilities such as state-of- the- art simulation environments, laboratories, and test facilities
+ Participate in engineering team activities in a specialized engineering or technology subject area
+ Contribute to the technical planning process and provide technical guidance
+ Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education/Training:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline required
+ Master’s Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline preferred
+ Must have a current DoD 8570 at IAT Level II or higher (Security+ Certification or equivalent
Experience:
+ 0+ years of professional experience in the required task area with a Master’s Degree
+ 2+ years of professional experience in the required task area with a Bachelor’s Degree
Security:
+ Must be a US citizen
+ Candidate must be in possession of a Secret Security Clearance
Physical Requirements:
+ Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
+ Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
+ Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)
+ Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Salary: $70,000 - $95,000
Salary rates for this position are competitive and commensurate with experience and industry standards. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that may include health insurance, paid time off, and retirement savings options.
