    We are seeking a **_Communications Specialist_** who will be a member of the Peabody Institute’s Marketing and Communications Office, the Communications Specialist is responsible for managing the Institute’s social media strategy and channels and creating and producing high-quality content for the Institute’s social media and digital promotions. This position will drive the implementation of impactful online tactics and content to support Conservatory student recruitment, Preparatory enrollment, marketing for new courses and product lines, concert and event promotion, alumni and donor connection, and Institute-wide branding and development, among other marketing and communications campaigns.

Through its Conservatory for undergraduate and graduate studies and the Preparatory, Baltimore’s largest community performing arts school, Peabody empowers musicians and dancers from diverse backgrounds to create and perform at the highest level.

     

    The Communications Specialist is responsible for writing and producing communications work. Work closely with the marketing and communications team and collaborate with others. Contribute to the center or department’s integrated and comprehensive approach to brand building and providing support for engagement. Responsible for the communication and marketing of events and partnerships to both internal and external stakeholders ensuring engagement with the appropriate audience while maximizing visibility and recognition.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Serve as the primary writer and editor for printed materials related to the area, events, and activities.

    + Perform a variety of research, writing and digital production for communications vehicles.

    + Write new material or contribute to writing a variety of communication media (e.g., website, proposals, summary reports, fact sheets, newsletters, marketing materials, correspondence, brochures).

    + Conduct interviews and collect information to develop content for communication materials.

    + Select visual assets to accompany written work.

    + Coordinate, oversee, schedule, and make appropriate arrangements for production and distribution of communications materials. Serve as primary contact with vendors.

    + May participate and contribute to planning and identifying content, theme, message, and tone.

    + Implement project strategies and work plans as developed by project leadership and support team in communicating, coordinating, completing, and disseminating project deliverables; and tracking dissemination metrics.

    + May manage and maintain social media accounts, newsletters, and/or website content

    + Support the planning and execution of webinars and other external facing events.

    + Develop external communication materials for project promotion.

    + Participate in high-level project team meetings and conference calls, as requested by Communications leaders. As needed, support team in developing proposals or other documentation for new or continued funding and coordinating with internal and external partners for new funding

    + Communicate challenges, requirements, and deadlines to team and ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.

    + Perform other related duties as requested

    _Supplemental Information_

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in related field.

    + Two years related experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Technical qualifications or specialized certifications

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

    Classified Title: Communications Specialist

    Role/Level/Range: ATP/03/PB

    Starting Salary Range: $46,200 - $80,800 Annually ($49,440 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

    Employee group: Full Time

    Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
