    Overview

     

    Responsible for performing regular inspection tests on products and materials to verify that everything is functioning properly and efficiently to company safety and quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.

    + Work in a professional manner with other associates to ensure only quality product being released to the customer.

    + Collect samples from each injection molding machine, secondary process, and print line for the required attribute / dimensional / functional testing per the specified frequency. Record the results on the appropriate forms.

    + Notify the Shift Supervisor of any non-conformances that are found. Monitor active concerns for prompt resolution and elevate issue up the Management chain if the non-conformance is not being addressed.

    + Notify Quality Assurance Manager of any quality defects which are not corrected promptly.

    + Identify non-conforming product with “Hold” labels and update the hold log.

    + Update X Bar R charts as required.

    + Perform in-process attribute verifications and document checks. Record the results on the Quality Monitor.

    + Perform first shot verifications and document the results using the appropriate forms.

    + Assist as necessary with LDR verifications.

    + Notify the Quality Assurance Manager immediately of any Quality Department equipment deficiencies.

    + Maintain a safe working environment.

    + Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.

    + Ensure a smooth transition between shifts by communicating any ongoing concerns / lingering issues to incoming technician.

    + Various other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or equivalent.

    + Prior experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment; plastic manufacturing highly preferred.

    + Technical background and/or experience in Quality Assurance highly preferred.

    + Regularly required to sit, stand or walk for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

    + Good computer skills required.

    + Skilled in the use of measuring devices, such as height gages and calipers.

    + Good mathematics skills required.

    + Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hair/beard nets, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask.

    + Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    + Frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles.

    + Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

    + Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.

    + Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.

    + Good attention to detail, time management skills, and problem-solving skills.

     

    Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
