Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Supports the Compliance Plan through review, analysis, communication and training activities. Determines compliance with billing and/or laboratory policies and procedures to ensure applicable laws are followed. Develops and disseminates comprehensive resources, education and training programs to support compliance and operational policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Responds to individual/departmental concerns and reporting by conducting appropriate follow-up. Records initial inquiries and assesses appropriate course of action, conducts investigative work to assess the situation, formulates proposed resolutions, and discusses with necessary parties to determine corrective actions. Consults with the Compliance Director as necessary to review issues.
+ Creates and updates presentations to educate and train faculty, residents, and staff on compliance issues. Provides education to reduce the frequency of non-compliances and enhance staff’s ability to perform duties with a clear understanding of legal responsibilities and limitations. Conducts orientation presentations for staff, requested focused education presentations, and case specific presentations determined to be necessary. Answers questions arising and provides direction to those who require assistance from other departments.
+ Prepares and submits reports containing review findings. Identifies areas requiring change. Makes recommendations for corrective action and is accountable for appropriate follow-up. Assists in formulating, reviewing, and updating Compliance policies.
+ Performs internal reviews of clinical faculty billing to determine compliance with billing policies and procedures. Conducts in-depth reviews of medical record chart documentation to ensure compliance with HCFA Guidelines. Ensures chart documentation supports the designated billing level.
+ Maintains current knowledge of issues in the area of professional compliance issues through networking with counterparts at other teaching hospitals, review of literature, and participation in seminars and update programs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor's degree in related field and 3 years of compliance, coding and consulting experience required
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
