Position Description
The Research & Design Studio, an initiative of the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University, seeks a full-time predoctoral fellow for a one-year appointment, with an expected start date during late summer/early fall 2025. This fellowship provides an opportunity to work in close collaboration with the Center’s researchers, scholars, and staff on new and ongoing projects related to pedagogy and civil discourse. This will include developing innovative pedagogical approaches and resources for fostering civil discourse on university campuses, supporting student leaders and instructors as they use these tools/resources, and participating in stimulating interdisciplinary workshops.
Fellows will be based at Harvard University and will work closely with both research and pedagogy teams. Responsibility may include researching and writing resources on advancing civil discourse and constructive dialogue, designing and testing lesson plans and activities, coordinating workshops and training for stakeholders (e.g. student leaders and instructors), curating resources (editing, revising, merging) so they could be accessible on a website and other organizational tasks.
All fellows will also participate in weekly team meetings and have opportunities to engage broadly with the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics’ vibrant community of scholars and practitioners.
The annual salary is $60,000, plus benefits. Visa sponsorship can be arranged. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting June 15, 2025, and continue until positions are filled.

Basic Qualifications
Applicants should be completing (or have completed) a bachelor’s or master’s degree and will have:
+ background in ethics, political theory, conflict resolution or similar field
+ interest and experience in pedagogy, curriculum development effective teaching, and/or the science of learning
+ an excellent academic record
+ strong organizational skills and attention to details
+ an ability to work in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team
Additional Qualifications
+ background in graphic design, UX design, experience or game design as well as familiarity with tools to create physical and digital resources – an advantage
+ research experience in a humanities or social science discipline is desirable but not required
+ interest and experience in work relating to fostering constructive dialogue
