    Job Description

    Under direction with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, performs difficult professional work in the area of recruitment of interns, fellowship programs, college aide positions and pro bono attorneys. Intern positions include high school, college, graduate and law students. The position responsibilities include contacting and corresponding with college/graduate/law school career services offices and community-based organizations.

    Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Chief of Personnel, duties include but are not limited to:

    Conducting Non-Civil Service Hiring Pools for Intern and College Aide Positions:

    - Develop, coordinate and manage the Urban Fellows, Post Graduate Fellows, high school and undergraduate internship programs. This includes being the point of contact for interested students, school career services or program coordinators as well as the divisions regarding their needs and availability for interns, making adjustments and organizing the programs based on flow from initial request of interest to hire of student, reviewing resumes and applications, and conducting interviews.

     

    - Serve a Recruitment Coordinator for support professional opportunities and attend hiring events, seminars and college fairs.

     

    - Process onboarding of law student and public service attorneys (Pro Bono) referrals from Legal Recruitment, divisions and other referral sources.

     

    - Serve as the Public Service Coordinator responsible for recruitment and onboarding of Public Service Interns with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS).

     

    - Coordinate with high school intern programs including DYCD SYEP for referrals.

     

    - Submit job vacancy notice via NYCAPS, review submitted resumes for candidate qualification, correspond with divisions regarding submitted resumes, correspond with eligible candidates, schedule interview date(s), meet & greet candidates, review application packets, conduct interviews, field questions, address issues and concerns, make job offers, provide new hire paperwork.

     

    - Responsible for the personnel processing of non-paid intern staff. Personnel processing consists of submitting requests for background checks, keeping in contact with new staff regarding personnel paperwork, reviewing completed paperwork and background checks for discrepancies and notifying administrative management staff of any concerns, creating ID cards, personnel file folders, and new staff profiles in personnel database.

     

    - Conduct analyses of college aide staffing needed due to additional headcount, vacancies, and/or attrition. This includes conferring and following up with division personnel representatives and division liaisons. Prepare and submit a Personnel Action Report (PAR), prepare and submit a job vacancy notice via NYCAPS, review submitted resumes, make job offers, and provide new hire paperwork.

     

    - Collaborate, plan, coordinate and conduct new hire orientation for newly hired college aide and intern staff. This includes collaborating and coordinating the availability of dates, conference rooms, and presenters. Corresponding with newly hired staff regarding completed personnel processing and orientation day/week details.

     

    - Moderate to light delegation and supervision of work assignments to the Legal Liaison, Legal Liaison Assistant and Legal Liaison Clerk, and, if needed, assigned projects of Clerical Associates and College Aides.

     

    - Perform special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

    2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

    3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

    Salary Min: $ 60,889.00

     

    Salary Max: $ 94,521.00
