    LOCATION OF POSITION: Monroe One BOCES - 41 O'Connor Road, Fairport NY 14450 – Learning and School Improvement Services, 15 Linden Park, Rochester, NY 14625

     

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month Position (plus days per diem during summer months), Full Time

     

    STARTING DATE: July 1 or ASAP

     

    SALARY RANGE: $52,250 - $83,791 per school year

     

    Actual salary is dependent upon education, experience, and contract.

     

    POSITION OVERVIEW: Monroe One BOCES is seeking a skilled and collaborative Instructional Specialist with experience in elementary education, literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading, systemic academic support frameworks such as MTSS and RTI, and developing and leading impactful professional learning. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in teaching students with diverse academic and behavioral needs, using data to drive instruction and support school improvement efforts. A deep understanding of research-based practices, a commitment to continuous learning, and the capacity to design and deliver high-quality professional learning are essential. An understanding of curriculum and assessment development aligned to the New York State Learning Standards is also desired. DUTIES:

     

    + Design and implement high-impact professional development aligned to current research and district priorities.

    + Provide embedded coaching and modeling of best instructional practices, particularly in literacy and intervention strategies.

    + Support districts in implementing the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards and evidence-based literacy practices aligned to the Science of Reading.

    + Consult with districts on effective implementation of MTSS, RTI, and behavior intervention frameworks.

    + Collaborate with school teams to analyze data and design responsive instructional plans for diverse student needs.

    + Lead and participate in curriculum writing and assessment development.

    + Develop professional learning communities and provide leadership in instructional improvement initiatives.

    + Facilitate communication and coordination across component districts regarding curriculum, assessment, and instructional strategies.

    + Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to assess needs and develop plans.

    + Support regional professional development goals and initiatives as part of the School Improvement team.

    + Stay current with state initiatives and best practices in instruction, intervention, behavior support, and professional learning, including attending trainings as needed.

    + Assist with logistical aspects of professional development delivery and event coordination.

    + Meet the needs of component districts.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Learning and School Improvement.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + NYS Teacher Certification, Literacy (K-12), or closely related area.

    + Minimum of seven years of successful classroom teaching experience(elementary preferred).

    + Demonstrated experience with Science of Reading-aligned instruction and reading intervention.

    + Deep understanding of MTSS, RTI, and related tiered systems of academic and behavioral support.

    + Experience delivering professional development and coaching to teachers and support staff.

    + Skilled in curriculum development, assessment design, and data-informed instruction.

    + Familiarity with behavior intervention supports and strategies at the classroom and systems level.

    + Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Proven ability to collaborate effectively within and across teams.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

    + Proficient in the use of technology as a tool for instruction and collaboration.

    + Knowledgeable about NYS standards and assessments.

    + Physically able to perform essential job functions (with or without reasonable accommodations).
