Summary The incumbent works for the Central Virginia VA Healthcare System (CVHCS) in Richmond, Virginia, as a direct report to the Social Work Service, and is assigned to the Caregiver Support Program (CSP). Responsibilities Responsible for clinical and administrative oversight of the CSP, which employs a state-of-the-art continuum of services, education, and resources to caregivers of Veterans with complex needs. Oversees service delivery and coordination of care activities for family caregivers who provide personal care services to eligible Veterans of all periods of military service. The CSP includes the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) and the Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS). The medical care, mental health, and psychosocial needs of Veterans receiving Caregiver Support Program services are complex, with an increased burden upon caregivers, requiring a high degree of administrative and clinical oversight, responsiveness, advanced technical consultation, creative problem solving, and personal mastery skills. Will also provide direct clinical services. As the supervisor, assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives, as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating, and overseeing the social work staff of the assigned programs. Provides the full range of supervisory duties, which include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed, performance evaluations, selection of staff, training of staff, and recommendation of awards, advancements, accountability, and, if appropriate, disciplinary action. Will assure the social workers whom he/she supervises are aware of and adhere to all current directives of VHA, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations. Must be familiar with The Joint Commission Standards, Hospital Standards, Nursing Home Standards, and Home Care Standards. The incumbent will conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies. Will participate in program evaluation, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction activities and develop performance improvement plans to improve measures and outcomes. Will present at public-facing events and maintain healthy community partnerships. Will complete numerous CSP, VISN, and VA Central Office taskers, with short turn around timeframes for deliverables, as well as congressional reports. Performs other directly related duties as assigned. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidates may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following: Skill in coordinating and implementing one or more specialty program(s), across the facility. Skill in local policy and practice development, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program as prescribed by the program handbook or national directive. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care. Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties including assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; and selection of staff, training, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action. Ability to oversee the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the allocated budget.
