Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the care of the critically injured trauma patient from the time of injury through the continuum of care. Ensure care is safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient, and equitable. Collaborate with the Trauma Medical Director, nursing Director of Trauma Services, Trauma Coordinator, Trauma Registrars, and Injury Prevention Coordinator to review the performance and safety of the Trauma Program. Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to monitor, evaluate, and improve all phases of trauma care. Represent the Medical Center on a local and regional level to support trauma system development, injury prevention, and public awareness. .
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
+ 5 years of work experience in Emergency, Trauma or Critical Care required.
+ Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
+ Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
+ Monitors and tracks trauma patients throughout the continuum of care.
+ Design and implement data-driven quality improvement projects, including tracking and monitoring outcomes.
+ Coordinate activities to evaluate issues, promote loop closure, and enhance clinical outcomes.
+ Promote performance improvement of the trauma program through data collection, analysis, trending, benchmarking, and reporting.
+ Collaborate with Trauma Registry staff in the collection, coding, scoring, and reporting of registry data to facilitate performance improvement activities.
+ Participate in the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, strategies, and process of care guidelines based on benchmarking data and standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons and State of Idaho Time-Sensitive Emergency program.
+ In coordination with other clinical professionals, assist with planning and implementing clinical protocols/practice management guidelines, monitor care of in-hospital patients, and serve as a resource for clinical practice.
+ Support outcome assessment and action plans while maintaining confidentiality.
+ Support the development and delivery of professional staff development and education based on outcomes in collaboration with the Trauma Coordinator and Injury Prevention, Outreach, and Education Coordinator,.
+ Participate in planning and preparing case review, standardizing practice guidelines, and injury prevention programs.
+ Participates in trauma care systems at community, state, and national level and represents hospital on committees as appropriate.
+ Involved in analysis, validation, and distribution of national benchmarking data findings.
+ Serves as an internal resource for staff in all hospital departments, and act as an extended liaison for emergency medical service agencies.
