JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Director of Procurement Technology will lead the design, architecture, development, implementation, and management of Marriott’s procurement platform, as well as ensure strategic alignment, seamless integration, and delivery of innovative digital solutions like a supplier engagement portal as part of a multi-year transformation program. This pivotal role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to ensure the procurement platform is efficient, scalable, and aligned with the organization's goals. You will collaborate closely with procurement leaders, global technology, and cross functional stakeholders, acting as the technology domain product owner to drive innovative solutions, create process efficiencies, streamline workflows, and leverage technology to streamline and enhance procurement processes and decision-making. The ideal candidate shall have a deep understanding of procurement technology ecosystems, ERP systems, automation, data governance, compliance and regulatory standards, and experience with delivering web applications leveraging modern frameworks.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science or Equivalent degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering
• 8+ years of progressive leadership in technical solutions development and architecture that includes:
o 8+ years of experience implementing and supporting Cloud Source to Pay (S2P) procurement platforms.
o 5+ years of experience designing and implementing digital web technology solutions, APIs, or microservices
• Extensive experience with integration architecture patterns, data integration tools, and experience integrating Cloud S2P platforms with different business systems (APIs, middleware tools etc.) utilizing cloud native tech and capabilities.
• Expert understanding of systems architecture and ability to design and prototype scalable performance-driven solutions in a SaaS model.
• Extensive experience implementing and managing supplier engagement platforms to drive a seamless experience for supplier interaction.
• Expert understanding of data architecture, database objects and data design patterns for reporting and analytics.
• Hands on experience designing and building technology solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with platform authentication and authorization patterns (SAML, SSO, OAuth)
• Understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies (DevOps).
• Knowledge of and experience with cloud native technology to design and implement solutions in a multi cloud environment.
• Background in design/development of large-scale system capabilities, or complete software product lifecycle exposure.
• Experience with technology product ownership and delivery.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to finance and technology (e.g., GDPR, SOX, PCI-DSS).
• Ability to review and manage usage, licensing, and costs with vendor platforms.
• Ability to learn modern technologies and adopt new technologies to streamline and simplify processes, keep related systems in sync and maintain data parity across an integrated ecosystem.
• Strong communication skills with a passion for mentoring and guiding diverse teams through strategic initiatives.
• Production support experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduate degree
• Experience with Cloud Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms.
• Experience with Source to Pay analytics capabilities including designing and implementing visualization solutions like Power BI, Tableau and associated data warehouses.
• Experience with managing the end-to-end lifecycle of a digital product and team of full stack developers and UI/UX designer
• Experience designing and architecting multi-cloud integrations.
• Experience with cloud native technologies and microservices architecture.
• Experience with RPA tools and other automation capabilities.
• Understanding of procurement and contracting processes.
• Experience in agile software methodologies and associated tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate future data platform opportunities.
• Technology leadership experience in a sourced environment.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Technology Product Ownership
• Own the procurement technology stack helping drive product strategy and roadmap for Cloud S2P procurement platform, CLM, supplier portal and ancillary technology ecosystem.
• Define the product vision and strategy aligned with the Procurement business goals.
• Identify market opportunities and enterprise needs to drive product development.
• Prioritize features and enhancements based on user feedback, business impact, and technical feasibility and work with global technology team to implement.
• Support data-driven decision-making by aligning procurement technology with data governance, analytics platforms, and business intelligence tools.
Technical Leadership
• Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate.
• Provides oversight to direct reports and dotted line reports as well as service providers and system integrators in the procurement technology space.
• Provides technology leadership and oversight to procurement domain tech solutions across organizational initiatives.
• Provides financial input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested.
• Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes.
Delivering Technology
• Lead and drive the end-to-end technology implementation for S2P procurement platform, CLM capabilities, supplier portal and associated integrations.
• Work with Procurement and Global Technology stakeholders on procurement technology transformation including data migration and transformation strategies to future state technology stack.
• Oversee the implementation, configuration and integration of procurement software solutions including analytics capabilities for the domain.
• Collaborate with Procurement and other stakeholders to define requirements, deliverables, and set and manage expectations.
• Collaborate with Global Technology, business partners, service provider and system integrator on implementation and hypercare.
• Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage Marriott technology assets and design standards.
• Lead technical product design sessions; architect and document technical solutions aligned with Marriott business objectives for Procurement and Contract Management to identify gaps between current and desired end-states.
• Own and drive technology solutioning for Procurement and help ideate options that align with approved architecture patterns.
• Establish and enforce data management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX).
• Manage extended stakeholder expectations liaising across teams to identify opportunities for system efficiencies and improvements.
• Plan, architect, design and manage delivery of technology solutions with global technology teams and service providers.
• Continuously evaluate and optimize finance processes, workflows, and system configurations to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Escalate and manage platform and delivery issues with technology vendors as needed.
Security and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with identify and access management (IAM) technical implementation guidelines and identity governance and administration (IGA) standards, policies and procedures.
• Identify potential risks, manage change control processes, and implement governance frameworks to ensure seamless technology adoption within procurement.
• Ensure technology solutions meet business needs while aligning with enterprise architecture
• Work with broader global technology and internal audit teams on technical implementation of system and IT general controls.
Optimization and Support
• Drive process improvements by leveraging automation, AI, and digital tools to enhance efficiency, compliance, and visibility across procurement operations.
• Identify opportunities to continuously improve performance and user experience with Cloud S2P procurement platform, CLM and supplier portal.
• Stay updated and implement platform updates, patches and emerging cloud technology including AI capabilities.
• Provide guidance for troubleshooting issues and incorporating system enhancements per user requests.
The salary range for this position is $117,700 to $195,700 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
