The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is recruiting for a full-time temporaryFinancial Specialist Seniorwith exceptional customer service skills to assist ourFinancial Services Project Accountingsection located atITD Headquartersin Boise, Idaho.
The incumbent will use accounting theory and practice to ensure the agency applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards correctly and consistently. The incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of grant and project related activities.
The main focus of this position is to cover several areas in Project Accounting with project/grant setups, adjustments, reporting reviews, and gathering information for responding to audits. The incumbent must possess a high level of focus and attention to detail to manage complex funding and expenditures on projects in the department’s financial accounting system. We are looking for someone that has an aptitude for solving financial and accounting problems.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
+ Assist This position will be able to handle project accounting setups using multiple systems, perform budget adjustments, and make accounting adjusting entries.
+ Review Project Accounting reporting to access and make necessary adjustments for
+ Respond to audit requests and inquiries from Federal agencies and State Legislative Auditors.
+ Review reporting for variances and making adjustment entries if necessary.
+ Analyze technical financial problems and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions.
+ Work independently and collaboratively for the successful completion of accounting and financial tasks
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Accounting principles and practices: Minimum requirements met by at least four years of professional work experience applying GAAP, usually gained as an accountant or equivalent.
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field with minimum of 20 semester hours of accounting and three years' experience in financial reporting and a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
+ Developing and preparing financial documents; Minimum requirement met by at least 1 year of experience developing and preparing financial documents such as financial statements, tax worksheets, budgets, cost analysis, audit reports, and audit work papers
+ Using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data: Minimum requirement met by at least one year of work experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze and report on financial data as a regularly assigned job duty
+ Experience with audits and replying to compliance and requirements requests.
+ Solid organization skills with attention to detail resulting in timely and accurate work products
+ Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
+ Experience with gathering data from multiple financial systems, analyze data, integrate data, validate data for accuracy and make corrections/adjustments if necessary.
+ Work proficiently with Excel (pivot tables) and Word
