    Job Summary:

The SJMC IV Therapy team is composed of dedicated RN vascular access experts providing comprehensive IV therapy services seven days a week, from 6:00 AM to 1:30 AM. We deliver all services directly at the patient's bedside, utilizing mobile ultrasounds and IV carts to offer full vascular access support.

Our primary focus is on ensuring patient safety and delivering high-quality care. To achieve this, we concentrate on selecting the most appropriate vascular access for each patient's immediate needs, while also considering their anticipated needs throughout their entire care plan.

Our specialized team of vascular access professionals collaborates closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure patients' vascular access needs are effectively addressed. Our IV Therapy Registered Nurses conduct thorough vascular assessments and, in consultation with the physician, place the most appropriate vascular access device based on the patient's individualized care plan. This includes the insertion of peripheral IVs, ultrasound-guided peripheral IVs, midlines, and PICC lines. We provide ongoing monitoring of all lines on a daily basis, along with IV troubleshooting, dressing changes, and expert consultative services to support the evolving needs of our patients.

    Essential Job Functions:

+ Evaluates appropriate intravenous catheter/device to support optimal patient outcomes.

+ Assesses the appropriateness for and demonstrates competency in placing PICCs using the bedside Ultrasound Machine.

+ Establishes difficult intravenous (IV) insertions throughout the hospital.

    + Performs Therapeutic Phlebotomies.

+ Manages Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs) complications and catheter repair.

+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

+ Minimum of two years of experience in placing IV’s and managing CVADs within the last five years.

+ Experience placing PICC Lines preferred.

+ Current State Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.

+ INS (Infusion Nurses Society) certification is preferred.
