    Position Summary Information

    Position Summary

    Given a late resignation of a longtime faculty member, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Temporary one-year Full-Time Director of Bands and music education faculty position in the Department of Music at the rank of Instructor for the 2025-2026 academic year. This interim position allows the Department to conduct a national search for a permanent replacement during the coming year, for which the replacement candidate would be eligible to apply.

     

    Duties include teaching/directing Wind Ensemble, Marching Band (Fall), Concert Band (Spring), conducting course(s), instrument-specific methods course(s), and observing preservice music educators in the field.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in conducting or a closely-related field in Music, with a doctorate preferred.

     

    A proven track record of excellent teaching and mentoring both within and beyond the classroom, including successful and productive collaboration with other music faculty.

     

    Demonstrated expertise in music education, with experience guiding future music teachers.

     

    Evidence of directing a marching band program successfully.

     

    Valid US driver’s license.

     

    Successful performance in an interview.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Doctoral Degree in conducting or a related field. Music Educator Certification and proof of public school teaching experience.
