    This vacancy is located at SCLHSA's Terrebonne Behavioral Health Center located in Houma, LA.

     

    This incumbent plans, supervises, and directs the Clinical Department of the Terrebonne Behavioral Health Center. Supervision is exercised over other clinical staff. The incumbent monitors, assesses, and develops clinical core competencies, training, and orientation by clinical supervision and oversees all clinicians providing direct treatment services. The incumbent will provide formal clinical supervision to interns, counselors, and master-level clinicians. This is a highly responsible professional-level clinical and supervisory position receiving broad directives from administration. The incumbent must be a licensed master-level clinician in good standing.

    Minimum Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    A master’s degree in a social science, health or human services, nursing, or health administration field plus three years of experience providing behavioral health treatment; OR

    A doctorate in a social science, health or human services, nursing, or health administration field, or a medical degree plus two years of experience providing behavioral health treatment.

     

    Job Specification

    FUNCTION OF WORK :

    To direct special services programs in a small to medium mental health region or human services district or direct program areas of a mental health center.

    LEVEL OF WORK:

    Program Manager.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

    Broad review from a higher-level manager or administrator.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

    Project basis over staff in specific assigned special services programs.

    LOCATION OF WORK:

    Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Mental Health; Human Services Districts.

    JOB DISTINCTIONS:

    Differs from the Mental Health Program Director--B by the absence of responsibility for directing special services program in a large mental health region.

     

    Differs from the Mental Health Specialist 1 and 2 by the absence of responsibility for coordinating and directing special services programs statewide.

     

    Job Duties and Other Information

     

    50% Delivers expert and specialized clinical services, as a licensed clinician, to clients with behavioral health issues.

     

    + Provides crisis assessments, crisis intervention, individual, family and group therapy to clients and family members, treatment planning, and discharge planning.

    + Assesses emergency cases to secure hospitalization of clients who are suicidal, homicidal, or gravely disabled.

    + Assists clients in obtaining community resources in regards to physical and mental health and obtaining community resources to meet basic needs.

    + Documents all required client contacts.

    + Maintains clinical charts and regularly updates clinical assessments, treatment plans, and LOCUS.

     

    20% Directs, through supervisory sessions, services meetings, scheduling and direct interventions, the provision of clinical services such as crisis, screening and admission, assessment, and therapy.

     

    + Coordinates emergency coverage throughout the 40-hour week.

    + Provides evaluations of clinicians to clinical staff and manager of clinicians’ direct service times, appropriate and competent use of case related documentation, clinical forms, interventions, and clinical judgment.

     

    20% Provides, through case consultations and staffing, consultation and training to interdisciplinary staff on complex and specialized cases involving adults with serious and persistent mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbance.

     

    + This involves teaching clinical skills and specialized techniques as well as routine policies and procedures.

    + Provides consultation to other agencies such as schools, courts, and prisons through meetings and consulting sessions.

    + Serves as resource person to other clinicians for referrals to other facilities and services.

     

    5% Supervises, through supervisory sessions, supervisory plans, detailing of job duties and core competencies, performance planning and evaluation.

     

    + Participates in job interviews and recommends hiring, promotions and disciplinary action.

     

    5% Other duties as assigned by MH Center Manager B or SCLHSA Clinical Director

    The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
